With yet another tulip travesty behind us the rockers here at Mope Records are out to make the summer sizzle.

Here's a glimpse of what's going on with the bands in the valley, and a few interesting tidbits of other cool stuff.

Mount Vernon's own Bluegreen have wrapped up the tracking of their new cd. Tentatively not titled. The disc should feature about 14 songs and maybe some cool interactive techno-stuff to boot. The guys are currently making weekend jaunts to Vancouver, B.C's Profile studios to mix the project. Expect the new Mope CD to hit stores in September.

In other local news, Duck Luxor 7 1/2, "Skagit County and Beyond", a compilation of stuff from Anacortes and Mount Vernon bands was released in the June. It features cuts from Tugboat, Nubert's Circus, The Crabs, Gravy Eater, Bluegreen, Walk The Plank (featuring Calvin from K Records/Beat Happening)and Mount Vernon punk legends Stagnant Water. For more info write to Brandon at 2920 Arapaho Dr. Mt Vernon WA 98273. Tapes are on sale at the Business in Anacortes. and should cost about $5 or so.

Last but not least Mount Vernon is finally getting a skate park. The city and county governments finally got together to build a park with all the amenities and a hockey rink at Bakerview Park so the county wide persecution of skaters can end for good.
